We built a luge!

On a very cold February day, we decided to brave the elements and construct a luge track. It was so cold that our teeth hurt when we smiled, and our bodies ached from every frozen wipe out, but it was by far one of the most amazing days that I can remember. It was as if we were all little kids again, and when my mom called us in for soup and hot chocolate, we all jumped at the offer. Rosy-cheeked with unkempt hat hair, we sat in our snow pants and long-sleeve shirts and made plans for how we'd improve the track when we could go outside again. As a group we took turns going down the run, pushed each other and laughed when big spills occurred, and jumped to fix the track whenever someone damaged it. We were playing under childhood rule, and that camaraderie warmed us from within so that we didn't care about the cold.
When playtime was done, we went inside and started a fire. Everyone had a hot cup of tea with Baileys was added for extra warmth. We wore my grandpa's bath robes, wrapped ourselves in nanny's fuzzy blankets, and watched silly movies on the couch. No one looked at their phones, no one talked about work. It was a perfect day to be a 30-year-old child.
