THE WOMAN

Who is Ali Greene?

Hello! My name is Ali, but I figure you've gathered that much information so far. Very astute of you.

I'm a cinematographer from Toronto, and I'm a genuine delight to be around.  Just kidding. Or am I?  Guess you'll have to meet me and make the judgement call yourself.

If you want my full bio with all of the bragging rights, read the next section. In here I'll just be talking about myself.

I collect hobbies, which is a delicate way of saying that I'm always fidgeting and can't sit still and relax. I have a ton of normal interests, like yoga, cooking, and Netflix, and I have two cats and a husband who I absolutely adore. But my real passion is in lint-rolling my pants, organizing and re-organizing every drawer in my house, putting labels on things (everything), peeling that blue protective wrap off of appliances and windows, and writing to-do lists for every aspect of my life.  I do The Star crossword every Saturday morning, but only the North of 49 one; The Premiere is far too difficult for normal people. And I only use a pen when filling in the squares. I like to live dangerously.

THE LEGEND

But... how?

While I am a cinematographer by trade, I am also heavily involved in pre- and post-production. A good chef would be involved in planning the menu in addition to cooking and plating it to perfection; an artist would do a sketch before painting and then framing it. While I agree that no man is an island, I think there is power in seeing an idea through from start to finish, and nothing delights me more than seeing an idea transform into a final product. I also feel like I can properly flex my creative muscles when I can research new and ambitious shots, plan how to light and move the camera, and then add animation and editing in post-production to polish it off.

It was a client of mine who branded me as the "creative beast and all-around friendly person" and I think that title stems from my beliefs about work. While there is a time for play and a time for ponder, I think that the best days are a combination of both. We spend so much of our lives working and commuting and thinking about our to-do lists, and to spend our days surrounded by anyone other than friends and friendly people doesn't make sense to me. Let's have fun and make something amazing.
